SAINT PAUL - Republican John Tomczak filed his candidacy to run for Minnesota House District 47A at the Secretary of State's office on Wednesday July 5th. This was first day individuals were allowed to officially file for candidacy in Minnesota.

"Filing for office is a privilege and a responsibility that I take very seriously," Tomczak said, "I think filing on the first day shows the voters our District 47 A that I want their vote on Election Day and that I will work hard for them once elected."

Tomczak did not wait for an official go-head from the state, he's been working hard and listening to voters for months, "I've knocked on 4,000 doors since April and it's clear to me the voter of District 47 A want a change." Tomczak said.

Tomczak is running on a platform of lower taxes, property rights, and more fiscal responsibility in government. "Thanks to the leadership of Governor Pawlenty and House Republicans, we have come through the tough economic times," Tomczak continues, "Now we need to ensure our hard earned tax dollars are being spent wisely, not wasted on programs that have long outlived their usefulness and waste YOUR money."

The race for District 47 A will be a sharp contrast of symbolism over substance. "My opponent ran on a platform of working cooperatively to move Minnesota forward," said Tomczak. "History shows that when time came to reach across the aisle, Denise Dittrich locked arms with the DFL liberals from Minneapolis and shut down our state government for the first time in history. Clearly showing her true intentions."

Tomczak further added, "With gas prices hovering around $3.00, Denise Dittrich voted for a 50% increase in the gas tax. She is clearly out of touch with average taxpayer in our area who has to hold tight to a family budget." (HF 2461)

House district 47A includes all of Champlin and part of Coon Rapids, south of Main Street and West of Hanson Blvd.
