CHAMPLIN - Senate District 47 unanimously endorsed Republican activist John Tomczak as their candidate to challenge DFL Representative Denise Dittrich. The DFL's Dittrich has held the seat since 2004, when she spent $93,000 on her campaign to defeat Republican Bill Haas.
"With me as a candidate, voters have a choice between a conservative who understands the value of a dollar and a tax-and-spend liberal like Denise Dittrich," Tomczak said. "When you can spend that much money on a campaign it is pretty obvious you have no idea what it's like to live on budget."
In light of last session's government shutdown, Tomczak is optimistic about his campaign. Many incumbents like Denise Dittrich will have a difficult time winning reelection.
"My opponent ran on a platform of working cooperatively with the Republicans to move Minnesota forward," said Tomczak. "History shows that didn't happen. The voters of this district trusted the DFL's Denise Dittrich to get the job done and she failed all of us."
Tomczak is running on a platform of lower taxes, property rights, and more fiscal responsibility in government.
"Recently, there has been a lot of discussion about eminent domain and property rights. Voters can rest assured that I am on the side of private property owners," Tomczak said. "Considering what is happening in Champlin with my opponent's campaign chair, Mayor Steve Boynton, the voters need to know on which side of this debate the candidates stand.'
Tomczak plans to work closely with Governor Pawlenty during the 2007 session to create a strong business environment, protect taxpayers, and bring fiscal sanity to the state government. For more information or to volunteer please visit www.johntomczak.com.
