John Tomczak's interest in public service began when he was a Boy Scout. John learned about the value of civic involvement as he earned his Eagle Scout.
As a student of the University of Minnesota, John worked as an intern for Senator Rod Grams in Washington, D.C. The following year, John worked as a field director for Senator Grams' re-election campaign in 2000. Through his work with Senator Grams, John learned that principles are more important than politics.
After graduating, John worked as a legislative assistant at the State Senate for Republican Senator Dan Stevens for the 2001 legislative session. At the Capitol, John got an inside look at state issues and how the state legislature operates.
For the next three legislative sessions, John was the executive director of Let Minnesota Vote, a non-partisan, non-profit, grassroots citizen lobby group. Let Minnesota Vote pushed to create a statewide initiative and referendum process.
In 2004, John was the Assistant "Help America Vote Act" Coordinator for President Bush's Minnesota campaign. John recruited and trained 900 election judges and poll observers to ensure a fair election.
John lives in Coon Rapids and is a licensed Realtor. He is a member of the Epiphany Catholic Church and volunteers as an adult leader for Boy Scout Troop 524.
